Pageonce Survey Reveals Two-Thirds of Americans
Want New Ways to Control Their Finances

PALO ALTO, Calif. - November 17, 2010 - For many, overspending is as much a holiday tradition as giving gifts, sending cards and caroling. However, this holiday season many Americans (68 percent) are looking for new ways to control their finances according to a November telephone survey of 1,021 U.S. adults conducted by Harris Interactive® on behalf of Pageonce.

"Tremendous advances in mobile phones and financial apps can alleviate the stress related with overspending and lack of financial control," said Guy Goldstein, founder and CEO of Pageonce. "Gone are the days when you had to go home, balance your checkbook, reconcile your credit card statements and hope it all works out. Today, you can see it all, in real-time on your mobile phone, so you are in a better place to make decisions about your purchases and control spending. This innovation can really affect change in people's behaviors and financial futures, particularly during the holidays when we are all likely to spend a little more than we have."

More Than Half of U.S. Adults Agree They are Overwhelmed by Their Finances

Managing and maintaining one's personal finances can be a huge, time-consuming effort. Fifty-three percent of Americans found trying to keep up with their finances "overwhelming." Younger generations struggled the most, with 68 percent of 18-24 year-olds and 59 percent of 25-34 year-olds feeling overwhelmed in keeping up with their finances.

Methodology

This survey was conducted by Harris Interactive® by telephone within the United States on behalf of Pageonce between November 3 - 7, 2010 among a nationwide cross section of 1,021 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race, education, region, number of adults in household, and number of telephone lines were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.

In theory, with probability samples of this size, one could say with 95 percent certainty that the results for the overall sample have a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Unfortunately, there are several other possible sources of error in all polls or surveys that are probably more serious than theoretical calculations of sampling error. They include refusals to be interviewed (e.g., non-response), question wording and question order, and weighting. It is impossible to quantify the errors that may result from these factors.
