History
Cingular Wireless was founded in 2000 as a joint venture between BellSouth and SBC Communications. This combined endeavor gave rise to the United State's second largest wireless carrier. After AT&T merged with BellSouth in December of 2006, AT&T took sole ownership of Cingular Wireless. Now that the transition period has ended and branding from Cingular to AT&T is complete, more than 70 million subscrbiers use the new AT&T, the nationals largest digital voice and data network/largest wireless company.
